The Black Terror made his debut in issue #9 of Exciting Comics, published by Nedor Comics in January 1941 and became one of Nedor Comics most popular superheroes.

The alter-ego of the Black Terror is Bob Benton who works as a pharmacist. Benton has created a chemical he has named 'formic ethers'. This grants him various superpowers which he uses in his fight against crime. Along with his sidekick Tim Roland,they are known as the 'Terror Twins'.
