Eight-year-old Noah's problems seem easier to deal with if he doesn't think about them. So he runs away, taking an untrodden path through the forest.

Before long, he comes across a shop. But this is no ordinary shop: it's a *toy*shop, full of the most amazing toys, and brimming with the most wonderful magic. And here Noah meets a very unusual toymaker. The toymaker has a story to tell, and it's a story of adventure and wonder and broken promises. He takes Noah on a journey. A journey that will change his life.

My name is Harper Clark-Tonberg and I am in P6 at Broughton Primary School in Edinburgh. I love reading because I enjoy it – I learn a lot from it too! Reading helps me with my vocabulary and understanding of different texts. I also get to explore different worlds, for example when I’m reading the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series by Rick Riordan I find out lots about Greek Mythology. Sometimes I even have more than one book on the go at once because I like to read different genres depending on how I feel. The great thing about reading is that If I’m not in the mood for one thing, I’m in the mood for another - I can always find something I like!

I’ve been EXTREMELY excited about the First Minister’s Reading Challenge because reading is my thing. As part of the Challenge I’m going to read every day if I can, sometimes even in the morning before school!

2. To try reading as many different genres as I can (but I know I’m not keen on just plain fantasy). Maybe I’ll like some of them, or maybe I won’t, but that's fine.
